Principles of Cinematography from New York Film Academy

  • Seaside 4 Long Beach Convention Center (map)

During this workshop, students will be introduced to the principles of cinematography, including ways shot composition, lighting, and color can add nuance and emotional depth to their visual storytelling. Students will be selected to participate in a hands-on demonstration that examines the relationship between camera placement and lens choice when establishing a narrative point-of-view for their audience. Students will also gain insight about some of the technical elements in the world of digital cinema, and the roles different key collaborators play when crafting a project's visuals.
